A Chara,

A massive weekend again this weekend as our attention turns to the big ball this week. We had a disappointing week after our Intermediate hurlers lost out by the narrowest of margins to Lisgoold in Dungourney on Saturday. The lads gave it everything but ultimately goals win games and our opponents got these to bring them over the line. All is not lost however as we face Youghal in our final game in two weeks' time with a chance of progression to the knockout stages still very possible thanks to our opening day draw with Aghabullogue.

On Sunday, our Junior B hurlers fell to a heavy defeat to an impressive Killeagh side in Aghavine. Our lads tried their heart out but unfortunately couldn’t match the skill and class of Killeagh. There’ll be better days ahead lads.

Unfortunately, on Monday our ladies football team also were on the wrong end of the scoreboard after they played St Vals in the Junior 2 County Final in MTU.

It was brilliant to see such a big Aghada crowd supporting our girls but it wasn’t to be on the day as we faced a classy St Vals squad. Well done to our girls for reaching the final which is a fabulous achievement. I was told after the game that this was the first match this team had lost in 2 years which just goes to show the effort and dedication the girls are putting into their training. Fair play to all involved!

This weekend:

Up first, our premier intermediate footballers face Na Piarsaigh in Cobh at 5pm. This is a must win game for our lads after a narrow loss first day out against Cill na Martra. Please do travel to Cobh and support the team and management!

Tickets are only available online at the following link: Buy Now

On Sunday, our Senior Ladies Football team are in championship action against county champions Mourneabbey. This game takes places in Mourneabbey and throws in at 4pm. Our girls went mighty close to conquering the mighty Mourneabbey last year in the county semi final so here’s hoping they can get over the line on Sunday!

On Sunday evening, our Junior C Footballers are in championship action in their final group game of the year. A win here should secure passage to the knockout rounds. The lads play Glenville at 7:15pm in Caherlag. This game is pay at the gate so no online tickets are needed here.

In a nutshell, a hectic weekend of football. Please make every effort to support our teams as they have been training hard all year in preparation for these crucial games. On Sunday please leave early if you plan on travelling to any of the games as there may be extra traffic on the roads with diversions in place due to the IronMan event. Best of luck to all involved here including the locals representing Aghada!

Keep an eye out also for our Junior A Camogie teams first championship fixture. Their game against Cobh was called off due to the weather last night so keep an eye on social media for any updates on this game.

I hope to see a big Aghada crowd on the roads over the next few days on the way to shout on our teams.
