A Chara,

Championship season is now in full flight with the Michael O’Connor East Cork Football Championship kicking off last week. If the weather to match this would arrive soon we would be in great shape altogether. Well done to our Junior A footballers who claimed a fine victory in their first round match against Glenbower Rovers in Youghal last Monday evening. Read the match report here: https://www.aghadagaa.com/articles/72497

Unfortunately, Imokilly senior footballers came out on the wrong side of a thrilling divisional semi-final match against Avondhu in Ballynoe last Thursday evening. Imokilly were extremely unlucky in the closing stages with our own Pearse O’Neill driving a shot goalward with the final play of the game. However, the ball glided over rather the under the cross bar with the East Cork men losing out by the narrowest of margins. Well done to all the Aghada players involved who put in a great effort during the year. A special mention to Eoin O’Neill who put in huge work all year to get the divisional football team back up and running. It was great to see over thirty players togged out in Ballynoe on Thursday ready to represent East Cork. Onwards and upwards next year.

Upcoming fixtures:

Putting in lightly, next week is hectic. 3 championship games and a league semi-final in 7 days.

On Monday our Junior A footballers are back in action when they face Cloyne in Killeagh at 8pm. This is the second game of our group and a win here should also secure a league final appearance. Tickets are priced at €6 and are available at the gate. Get down to support the lads in this local derby.

On Wednesday evening, our U19 hurlers face Watergrasshill in the first round of championship which is a knockout competition. The game throws in at 7:30pm in Watergrasshill. Best of luck to all involved and hopefully we will get a big support to Watergrasshill to roar on the team. Tickets for this game are available online at the following link: https://www.universe.com/events/watergrasshill-v-aghada-co-op-superstores-u-19-hurling-championship-tickets-J6KNV1

On Friday, our Junior A footballers play reigning champions Bride Rovers in our final group game of the East Cork Championship. The game throws in at 8pm in Ballinacurra. Tickets are priced at €6 and are available at the gate.

On Sunday our Premier Intermediate Footballers play Rockchapel in the semi-final of the Cork Credit Unions Division 2 football league. The game throws in at 1pm in Rostellan. After a great victory last time out against Knocknagree, a victory here will guarantee promotion in next years league. Best of luck lads.

Educational Summer Camp:

Are the kids getting bored on school holidays already? Well, maybe this is the answer for you. See attached details of an educational maths summer camp from Ita Reaney. If anyone is interested contact Ita on the information supplied in the attached brochure.

That’s it for tonight, plenty of action to look forward to this week. Best of luck to all our players and management teams who will go out to represent Aghada with pride in every single fixture. Show your support for these teams if you can and don’t forget to wear the club colours.

Slán,
