Dia dhaoibh,

A mixed bag of hurling results last weekend. Our Intermediates had no joy on the immaculate surface of Pairc Ui Chaoimh last Saturday night against Ballincollig. We now face East Cork rivals Watergrasshill in a relegation playoff. No date as of yet for this game. Our JB hurlers had a better day out the day after on the Sunday, when they produced a scintillating last quarter to defeat Castlemartyr and march on to an East Cork semi final v Bride Rovers. That game is currently fixed for October the 24th with time and venue to be confirmed. See write ups from both games at the following link –

For our Intermediates it is straight back up on the horse with a huge football game this Saturday against city outfit NaPiarsaigh in Carrigtwohill tomorrow night (Saturday) at 7:30pm. We are undefeated in the group thus far with a draw and a win, but that will count for nothing if we lose tomorrow night. So effectively a must win, winner takes all clash, and it would be great to get a big Aghada crowd up to Carrigtwohill to support the lads. Best of luck to players, mentors and all involved. As usual all over 16’s will have to have pre purchased a ticket on line at the following link –

Lotto

Thanks to all for fantastic support for our Lotto. A lot of the online yearly tickets are being renewed this time of the year and a huge thanks to all that continue to take out the yearly option and even better with auto renew selected. Just one piece of feedback from auto renew members who have had to update credit card details in their clubforce account , if you have updated the details before your last draw than the ticket will auto renew automatically. However if you are past your last draw than even after updating the details you will need to sign up again for the following year.

Massive thanks also to our loyal sellers. We have a few more businesses coming back to normal at last and they again now will have Aghada GAA Lotto tickets on sale. So tickets can now be purchased in the Long Point, Rosies, An Puc Ar Buile, Guileen Arms and The Schooner, aswell as the regulars of Spar (Green Lotto self service kiosk down by the drink!!), Pier Service Station, Aghada Pharmacy and O’Sheas Post Office.

Well the dust has settled, the talking points have been analysed, the referring decisions dissected, the backs patted, the asses kicked, but the injuries and aches and pains are still ongoing after last weekend’s masters game between the born and breds and the blow in’s. The match finished in a draw, so the bragging rights were shared. There were glimpses of a time fado fado. Shane O Connell still looked good in goals. David Fleming banged a worldie of a goal for the blow ins, who also had impressive performances from Dave Hartnett and Conal Rabbit. Penos from Dave Creedon, Willie O Donoghue and Sean Kenny with a Melv goal from play kept the born n breds in the ascendancy before a Philip Moore peno brought the blow ins back for a draw. But mostly it was just great craic and enjoyment all-round. The mothers and others opened proceedings with a game of far superior quality with the born n breds sneaking the win here. Although there may be an investigation into the team sheet!! This game was reffed by Willie Wallace who amazingly only gave frees against his own wife, Willie hasn’t been seen since. ?. We also had exhibitions from the young camógs and the young boys footballers and overall we had a huge crowd who generously supported the cake sale on the day and the event as a whole. It was all in aid of Sean Kenny and family who have a serious battle on their hands but listening to Sean’s speech and watching the positivity of himself and his wife Brid, then they are well up to the task. Events were drawn to a close with a slower more laboured version of the Aghada anthem, which I guess was in keeping with the masters football display!!!

Well done to everyone who took part in any way, especially the brave men and women that togged out on the day. Sincere thanks to all who helped make it a day to remember for the Kenny family and the Aghada club as a whole, especially Colin Rooney and Declan Devoy who picked up the idea and ran with it. It was great to see everyone come together for a great cause and enjoy a great day in the club. People can still read more and donate at the following link –

Lastly another big weekend for juveniles. We have our own Billy Ahern U12 football tournament in Rostellan all morning tomorrow, and the U13 hurlers and U17 footballers each have finals to play. See full details on website. Best of luck to all involved in these games.
