U14 Juvenile Match reports By Pa O’ Connor 9/5/24 -11/5/24
Rebel Óg East U14 Div1 Football CHAMPIONSHIP. Aghada 4-4 Glenville 5-11. 9/5/24
In the end we were beaten by a better team after a enjoyable hours football.16 scores to 8 tells a story for both sides. Their efficiency in front of goals and our lack of finishing numerous chances that we created would ultimately hurt us. We started off very strong and we were 3 goals up after 15 mins through well worked goals scored by David Murphy and Jack Kelleher. We should have been further ahead and paid for this as the half developed with Glenville getting into game through solid midfield and strong running in the forwards. At the end of a good first half Glenville lead 2-10 to 3-2. We regrouped at half time and we got back within 3pts through another well worked goal finished by David Murphy. But try as we did we couldn’t finish many scoring opportunities that we had. Glenville scored two late goals to take the victory that they deserved on the night. Our lads tried hard but a special mention for Donncha Walsh who was a rock for us at full back and kept cool when others couldn’t. Team: Harry Burgoyne, Finbar Alcock, Donncha Walsh, Dylan Kearns, Eoin Kirrane, Mike McRae, Darragh Callanan, Cormac Cashman (0-03), Lorcan Evans, Darragh Crowley, Jack Kelleher(2-0), Conor O’ Reilly, Marcus O’ Loughlin, David Murphy (2-01), Cathal Lowney. subs Ben Duggan, Bobby O’Riordan, Sam Ahern, James Irwin, Tim O’ Hanlon, Conor O’ Neill,Jake O’ Sullivan.

Rebel Óg East U14 Div 2 Football CHAMPIONSHIP. Aghada 1-1 Fr O Neills 7-10. 10/5/24
On the night we were well beaten by a far stronger Fr O’ Neills team played in lovely conditions in Aghavine. We started slowly and didn’t make things easy for ourselves by giving away the ball needlessly and under no pressure inviting O’ Neills onto us time after time. Midway through the first half Rían kicked our first point from a free and 2 minutes later finished a free to the back of their net with a strong finish. O’ Neills kept punishing our mistakes and at half time score was Fr O’Neills 4-5 to 1-1. Unfortunately in 2nd half we tried hard but Fr O’ Neills kept the scoreboard ticking over and ultimately ran out big winners. Special mention to Alex Gill who was excellent from start to finish Leon Joyce & Conor O’ Neill who made a number of impressive saves and Seán Day tried hard. Team: Conor O’ Neill, Luke Hickey, Maidhc Collins, Leon Joyce, Alex Gill ,Sam Ahern, Fionn Musgrave, Cormac Byrne, Luka Hurley, Jake O’Sullivan, Seán Day, Tim O’ Hanlon, Cormac O’ Brien, Rían O’ Brien, MJ Duggan.subs all used Harry Martin, Dylan Crowley, Gavin Conway.

Rebel Óg Coiste U14 C3 Hurling League. Aghada 2-5 Ballincollig 6-6. 11/5/24
Overall a very solid start for our 2nd u14 team playing their first game of year. Ballincollig had some strong performers around the middle and upfront and got scores easier than us. We defended well for the majority of the first half but we conceded a soft goal just before half time. Half time score Ballincollig 2-4 Aghada 0-2. In the second we got 2 goals one a good finish from James Irwin and second after their goalie saved initially Sam Ahern hit the sliotar to the back of their net. Our lads never stopped trying and kept going to the end so hopefully as year progresses we will develop this group. Best for Aghada Cormac Byrne, Leon Joyce, Colin Crowley Jake O’Sullivan and Dara Kelleher. Team: Dara Kelleher, Leon Joyce, Cormac Byrne, Luka Hurley, Seán Day, Finn Larkin, James Irwin, Sam Ahern, Jake O’ Sullivan, Conor O’ Reilly, Tim O’ Hanlon, Cormac O’ Brien, Harry Martin subs used Ben Eagle, Gavin Conway.
