Aghada 3-11 Fermoy 0-3 report by Pa O’ Connor 12/04/24
A very strong performance by the boys this evening below in Rostellan in our 2nd league fixture of the year. From the throw in we attacked Fermoy and played some decent football. Strong play from Dara O’ Brien, Darragh Callanan, Cathal Lowney and Marcus O’ Loughlin led to some good football and we moved the ball with purpose. David Murphy  was a great outlet and got our goal in the first half. Half time score was 1-8 to 0-1. Second half scoring slowed down but we got some good scores through Jack, Ben, David and score of the match a great point from Cormac Cashman. A very strong defensive performance led by Donncha, Dylan and Finbar. Best for Aghada who all put in a good shift were Dara O’Brien, Donncha Walsh, Darragh Callanan, Cathal Lowney, Dylan Kearns and Finbarr Alcock.

 U14 Div 2 Football League

Glanmire(2) 4-18 Aghada(2) 3-1 report by Pa O’ Connor 13/04/24
The final scoreline didn’t reflect the effort the boys put into this game but I have no doubt we will learn and progress from this game. From the throw in Glanmire attacked us and hit us for a few early goals which knocked our boys back for awhile but once we regained our composure we started to play some good football driven on by Darragh Callanan, Darragh Crowley and Cathal Grehan we got more into the match and we got our first score a well worked goal excellently finished  by Darragh Crowley. We quickly got a second goal before half time a good move finished into the net by Rían O’ Brien. The second half we attacked a lot more but didn’t get the scores that our general play deserved. We got a goal finished well by MJ Duggan and fantastic point from play off the boot of Colin Crowley. In the end we were beaten but we battled hard. Best for Aghada Darragh Crowley, Cathal Grehan, MJ Duggan, Leon Joyce.  U18 Premier 1 Hurling League. Aghada 1-10 Glen Rovers 3-11 report by Jim Motherway 13/04/24

County Champions Glen Rovers came to town last Saturday and after a slow start the lads knuckled down and gave as good as they got . We conceded 2 early goals and found ourselves facing an uphill battle when the Glen converted a penalty mid way through the second half to give them a healthy lead but our lads dug deep and with Seán O’ Callaghan and Samuel O’ Driscoll driving forward we trailed at the short whistle 3-7 to 1-6 . The second half saw us take the game to the Glen and driven on by Ronan Devoy and James Motherway at the back and Tomás Condon up front had reduced the arrears to 2pts but a number of missed opportunities and soft frees conceded, The Glen ran out victors by 7 points . All in all Aghada can be very proud of their display with the lads showing great heart and character again but also knowing that there is loads of room for improvement . Midleton 6-11  Aghada 2-7 report by Jim O’ Neill 13/04/24
Saturday’s match away to Midleton was a tough match from the start. Midleton went into an early lead in the first half and the difference between Aghada and Midleton was that Aghada failed to score during the first half, they rallied in the second half, but weren’t able to close the gap. Midleton were still able to score and keep Aghada from closing the gap. Notable performances and strong efforts from Adam O’Loughlin, Dara Kenny and Seán Walsh are worth mentioning.  The team for Aghada where: Darragh Kenny, Eoin Rooney, Seán Walsh, Seán O’Sullivan, Adam O’Loughlin,  Ronan Callaghan, Mason Sheehan, Mike Creedon, Dara Kelleher, James Connelly, Bobby Creedon, Rory Casey and James Connolly subs James O’Brien, Daniel O’Neill, Robbie O’Hanlon.

Aghada 7 -12  St. Colmcilles 2-3 report by Jim O’Neill 14/04/24
With the stiff wind blowing across and down the pitch St Colmcilles had the advantage of the wind in the first half, but it was a close contest, evenly matched with only a couple of points to Aghada at halftime the difference. After the halftime break, Aghada used the wind and interchanging of passes to their advantage and scored quickly, time and again. Good play from Jakub, Shay, Daniel, along with u11’s Seán Ryan and Ciarán O’Donovan played well. Captain on the day Robbie O’Hanlon. The game ending in a comfortable win and a definite change in mood following on from Saturday’s game. A weekend of two different games.
